Description

“Tertre” means elevation, and Ch. du Tertre is among the highest-lying châteaux in all of Margaux. The old château on the deep gravel has been inhabited by historical celebrities such as Michel de Montaigne’s brother and the Marquis of Ségur. Quite unusually, the château has the same single field as in 1855. With its 52 hectares, it is one of the largest in the Médoc. In terms of wine, the best château in Arsac.

Ch. du Tertre has been flying since Dutchman Eric Albada Jelgersma took over in 1997. Just two years later, a state-of-the-art winery was ready, built from the ground up. Like its “sister chateau” Giscours, du Tertre flirts with biodynamic cultivation, while “green harvest” from nearly 60-year-old vines testifies to the ruthless prioritization of grape quality over harvest volume.

« 2015 vintage at Château du Tertre : a very high homogeneity both at the formation of the grapes
but also in terms of ripening. Exceptional weather conditions in the spring and mild temperatures
allowed a "slow" harvest, respecting the maturity plot by plot and grape after grape varieties. The
first vats confirm our forecasts : very colorful wines, dense , fruity , expressive and tasty. They
express notes of very ripe black fruit. »
