Description
Launched on April 16th 2019, Ao (Japanese for "blue") World Whisky was Suntory's attempt to bring clarity to the world of Japanese Whisky by blending Irish, Scottish, American, Canadian and Japanese whisky, and proudly claiming so on the label.
The company owns a number of global distilleries, including Bowmore, Laphroaig and Auchentoshan in Scotland, Kilbeggan & Cooley in Ireland, and the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries in Japan.
AO which translates to ‘blue’ in Japanese has a ‘complicated and rich’ flavour which is ‘comfortably smoky’.

Suntory Holdings can trace their history all the way back to February 1 1899 when their founder opened his first store, they are now one of the worlds largest producer of distilled beverages. The Yamazaki and Hakushu malt distilleries and Chita grain distillery in their portfolio. From these three starting points they produce a wide range of blended and single malt whiskies, catering to both the palates at home and abroad. Some of their brand labels are now discontinued which gives them further appeal to the collector and the whisky aficionado.
